Ontario Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Hauling 14 Tons Of Marijuana

In Riverside County, California, an Ontario man who was stopped by police while driving a truck filled with 14 tons of marijuana has been sentenced to 5½ years in federal prison. Angel Raya was sentenced in a federal court in Riverside. He pleaded guilty to transporting marijuana with intent to distribute it.
Mr. Raya was driving a big-rig on Interstate 15 south of Temecula when he was pulled over for making an unsafe lane change. A drug-sniffing dog alerted Riverside County sheriff's deputies to drugs and they found pallets of marijuana stacked to the ceiling. It was the largest marijuana seizure in Riverside County history.
Mr. Raya said he agreed to haul the marijuana from San Diego County to San Bernardino County for $10,000.
