Ventura, California Man Arrested for Bank Robbery

A man suspected in two Ventura, California bank robberies was charged after he was identified as the suspect known to law enforcement as the "Futbol Bandit," announced the Assistant Director of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, and the Ventura Police Department.
Cody Kalin Barnum, 22, of Ventura, was arrested late after investigators received a tip from a citizen who identified Barnum after viewing bank surveillance photographs publicized by the media.
The Futbol Bandit was suspected of committing two bank robberies that occurred in the city of Ventura; the first on 5/17 at a First Bank, and then on 6/28 at a U.S. Bank. The bandit received his name when he was seen in bank surveillance photographs wearing a sweatshirt bearing an international soccer logo.
In a criminal complaint filed in United States District Court in Los Angeles, Barnum is charged with the May 17th bank robbery in Ventura. Barnum approached the victim teller and passed a demand note which read, "Give me all your money or I’ll shoot you." After receiving cash, Barnum fled the bank.
Barnum was in federal court for an initial appearance and was detained. He is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in downtown Los Angeles.
This case was investigated by the Ventura Police Department and the FBI. Mr. Barnum will be prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles.
